Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of Engineering/Technology with first class or its equivalent, or a Master’s degree with first class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised Institution or University. Final year students are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree by the specified date.
Candidates of General/OBC category seeking admission to the PG program must have at least 60% (SC/ST/PD 55%) marks or 6.00 (SC/ST/PD 5.50) CGPA on a 10 point scale at qualifying degree level. The percentage will be considered on the basis of aggregate marks/CGPA awarded in qualifying degree examination.
The SC/ST Category candidates must submit the requisite certificate from a competent authority as given in Annexure-1 at the time of Interview/GD.

Selection Procedure:
Candidates are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs. Initial short listing of candidates, for sending invitation letters for Interview/GD, shall be done on the basis of their performance in CAT2013. The final merit for making offers of admission to the Program will be on the basis of their aggregate performance in the Written Test (CAT 2013) followed by Group Discussion, Interview and their Work Experience as per respective weightages given below:-
CAT Score: 65%;     Group Discussions: 10%;     Interview: 20%;     Work Experience:  5%.
Candidates will have to appear for Interview/GD at IITR at their own expense. These essential eligibility requirements are applicable to all categories of candidates, viz. regular, full-time sponsored and foreign candidates. Other conditions for these categories are as follows :
 A. Regular Candidates
Final year students of relevant undergraduate programs who have completed the requirements of qualifying examination can also apply. Such candidates will be required to submit a certificate as per the Performa given in Annexure-2A & 2B at the time of Interview/GD. In case of non-availability of the marks of final examination at the time of the Interview/GD due to delay in the announcement of their results, candidates may be allowed to appear in the Interview/GD on the basis of their aggregate results up to pre-final year in which the percentage should not be less than as specified above under essential requirements. However, they will be required to submit the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the required percentage or CGPA latest by End of September.

Number of Seats
The number of seats available in the MBA Program is presently 95.
Rank Lists
  • Only candidates who appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking.
  • The marks obtained by a candidate in Physics in JEE (Advanced) 2015 will be equal to the marks scored in Physics part of Paper 1 plus the marks scored in Physics part of Paper 2. Marks obtained in Chemistry and Mathematics will be calculated in the same way.
  • The aggregate marks obtained by a candidate in JEE (Advanced) 2015 is the sum of the marks awarded to him/her in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Rank lists will be prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE (Advanced) 2015.
  • If the aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks:
Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates are assigned the same rank.
  • Rank lists for preparatory courses will be prepared only if the number of SC, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD and ST-PwD candidates in the respective rank lists is less than 1.4 times the number of seats available in the respective categories. Common rank list (CRL)-PwD preparatory merit list will be prepared if the total number of qualified PwD candidates is less than 1.4 times the total number of PwD seats.
  • A candidate who qualifies in more than one category will be considered in all the categories to which he/she belongs for the purpose of ranking.
  • There will be no waiting list for ranking.
  • Only candidates who score the minimum prescribed marks in each subject in each paper and in aggregate will be included in the rank list. The minimum prescribed marks varies with the category. These are as shown in the following table.
