AIPMT 2015: SC Extends Time for Retest; Directs CBSE to Declare Results by 17 August

Police investigation found that the maximum number of beneficiaries of the paper leak, at a particular examination centre, were 15 students who appeared in Siliguri. Supreme Court had cancelled the AIPMT exam and directed CBSE to hold it afresh and declare results before August 17. the re-test date, venues of CBSE AIPMT 2015 is yet to be announced on or
The SC heard Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) plea seeking more time to re-conduct AIPMT exam, as it is "impossible" for the board to meet four weeks deadline given by the apex court. As the matter is of grave concern, the vacation Bench comprising Justices RK Agrawal and Amitava Roy agreed to hear the plea on 19 June.
In view of discrepancies found in the 3 May AIPMT examination, the SC had on 15 June cancelled the test and directed CBSE to hold the AIPMT 2015 again within four weeks. Following this, the CBSE reportedly held a meeting to discuss the date and venues for the re-examination. However, they have now approached the top court again.
Several students and parents had appealed to the SC seeking cancellation of 3 May AIPMT examination in the wake of question paper leak and cheating accusations. As the investigation is still pending and all the beneficiaries have not been identified yet, the SC took the decision against declaring the result, which was supposed to be announced on 5 June.  It was first delayed during SC hearings and later was cancelled. The students, who are already anxious about their future, are worried even more now as this is delaying the admission process and the academic year.

Nearly 6.3 lakh students had taken the pre-medical test conducted this year. Of over six lakh students, only 2,000 will be admitted to various medical and dental colleges across India.
