The students who appeared in the NEET phase-I examination can appear once again in Phase-II, scheduled for 24 July, if they have apprehension that they have not done well, the Supreme Court said in its order on Monday, even as it rejected pleas of state governments and minority institutions to allow them to hold separate entrance exams for MBBS and BDS courses. The top court also allowed candidates who appeared in the first phase of NEET on 1 May to reappear in the second phase slated for 24 July. Over 600,000 aspirants appeared for NEET I.On 28 April, the court had ordered NEET to be held in two phases—on 1 May for those who have applied for the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test and on 24 July for fresh candidates.Common all India test can't be held bad only because it affects the rights of states & pvt colleges. States can't conduct their own exams since Centre's regulation on NEET overrides states' law on separate exams.
