The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to use Aadhaar number to establish the identity of an individual. The students who are Indian nationals, ordinary residents or citizens of India will have to produce the details given on Aadhaar card while filling the NEET Exam 2017 application form. This is a good way to ensure the accuracy of details entered by the candidates. “There are a lot of students who do not provide proper addresses hence Aadhaar is a good mandate for NEET Exam 2017. The move is for the welfare of the applicants as well as the education board,” said T Balakrishna, chairman and managing director, Venkat International Public School & Group of Institutions.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, is held to shortlist candidates for graduate and postgraduate medical courses in private and government colleges across the country. Lakhs of students appear for this exam each year but only a few are able to seek admission in their dream college. If you are planning to appear for NEET 2017 then here is all you need to know about the upcoming exam:
- The application form for NEET 2017 isn’t out yet. Though there is no notification about it on the official website www.cbseneet.nic.in it is likely to be out soon probably in the last week of January.
The Exam preparation for NEET should begin two years prior and if you really wish to crack it then you must study with dedication from the very beginning. The last few days are however a lot more crucial and must thus be planned more efficiently. Here are 9 things to do in the last few days to exam preparation for neet:
1. Review Your Syllabus
The very first thing you must do is to review your syllabus so as to ensure that you have covered all the topics.
Several candidates from Aurangabad’s Marathwada appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) were taken aback when the examination centre rejected their e-Aadhaar as identity proof. As per the authorities at the centre the National Board of Examinations (NBE) had issued a decree stating that the e-Aadhaar would not be valid. The decree was issued two days after the commencement of the exam.
Earlier the Union government had mentioned that the e-Aadhaar would serve as a valid identity proof. This is the reason why the students and their parents were agitated on learning otherwise. As per them, there was no prior intimation about the e-Aadhaar being invalid.
“The NBE had allowed me to appear for the DBM entrance exam in June 2016. The NEET-PG admit card issued by NBE did not mention that e-Aadhaar would be considered invalid. Since I came all the way from Nanded, I had no chance to go back and get another identity proof. This apathetic attitude of the board has ruined my career,” said Abhishek Rapte, a student from Nanded whose two years of efforts were wasted because of this change.
Another student, Amruta Loya shared that she too did not receive any information about the e-Aadhaar being invalid. She told the exam coordinators that her parents were on their way from Jalna with other ID proofs and requested them to let her appear for the exam but in vain. Her father Kailash Loya, a public prosecutor said, “This is unfair. The students are harassed for no fault of theirs. We will drag the board to the court and seek justice”. Many other parents echoed the same.

In addition to the MBBS course, the selection of students for postgraduate and diploma programmes at the Goa Medical College (GMC) will also be done on the basis of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) from the year 2017.
A notification about the amendment of policy for admission process to post-graduate degree and diploma courses at the Goa Medical College was issued last month. Until this year, the admission to postgraduate seats at the Goa Medical College was being given on the basis of the marks secured by the students in their MBBS final year.
As per Rule 3 of the amended rules, “The order of merit for admission to post-graduate degree/diploma courses shall be based on state-wise merit secured by the eligible applicants at NEET-PG examination for the concerned academic year.”
So the students will have to go through tough competition to secure seats for post graduate courses too.
Since GMC is a state run college, this year round it got the advantage of the central government ordinance that exempted government medical colleges from giving admissions to MBBS degree courses via National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. However, from year 2017 it will be providing admission to the medical courses through NEET.

National Board of Examinations (NBE) will be carrying out National Eligibility cum Entrance Test centre (NEET) to select students for various PG courses for the coming academic session. It would be held from 5th to 13th December. While centres for the same have been set up in different parts of the country, it has been heard that there would be no NEET centre in Kashmir. The news about no National Eligibility cum Entrance Test centre in Kashmir for postgraduate (PG) medical courses has created a stir among the medical aspirants.
Dr. Nisar ul Hassan, President, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) said that this decision would put the future of numerous aspiring doctors at stake. “While 86 centres in 41 cities across the country have been set up, Kashmir has been left out. We were surprised with the decision of not providing a centre in Kashmir. This would mean that doctors who were hoping to pursue PG courses would not be able to do so,” stated Dr Hassan. NEET has become mandatory for seeking admission in all the medical courses and this news has shattered the dreams of several aspiring doctors in Kashmir.
It is that time of the year when the road and air connectivity of the valley is cut off because of severe cold weather and if the doctors are asked to go out to write the exam then the people here will be deprived of medical services. “Calling huge number of doctors outside for the test would collapse the healthcare delivery system. This would disrupt the functioning of hospitals and affect patient care”, added Dr. Hassan.
“We conveyed our apprehensions to National Board of Examinations (NBE) that our doctors will not be able to appear in the test unless the centre is provided in Kashmir, but to our utter dismay they were indifferent. We had appealed State government to intervene and prevail upon the concerned authorities to establish a centre here, but no efforts have been made in this regard”, he stated further.
