The last date to apply for National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate programs has been extended till 12th March 2018. Earlier it was 9th March 2018. Candidates can now apply for this medical entrance examination by 12th March 2018, 5: 30 pm. The registration fees for the same can now be submitted by 13th March till 11:50 pm. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the same on 8th March 2018.
CBSE took this decision after the Supreme Court declared that not just the Aadhaar Card but other identity proofs would also be allowed for NEET 2018 registration. Earlier the Aadhaar card was set as a mandatory proof for the examination. Now, the students can use identification proofs such as Bank Account No., Passport, Ration Card, Driving License or any other valid government ID. The news has come as a relief for the candidates who had been preparing for NEET 2018 but had lost the chance to apply for the exam owing to the stringent norm of producing the Aadhaar card for the same. The number of NEET applications is likely to increase substantially in the last few days. The application forms for NEET 2018 were released on 8th February 2018.
With this latest change, the dates set for the correction window have also been revised. The correction window for NEET 2018 would now be open from 15th to 17th March 2018.
Recently, it was also stated that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will now come under the 15% All India Quota scheme. Candidates from these states do not require submitting Self Declaration form. Only those from J&K state require submitting self declaration form for the All India Quota seats.
