E-Cell IIT Bombay will host it’s first-ever campus run on March 6, 2016. IIT Bombay gates will be open for everyone to register and participate in the campus run called the ‘IIT Bombay Run’.
The Entrepreneurship Cell (e Cell) of IIT Bombay is inviting the IIT students, alumni, industry leaders and fitness enthusiasts to come together for the ‘IIT Bombay Run’ and participate with full enthusiasm.
The fitness enthusiasts have an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in a run around the scenic IIT Bombay campus which is spread across an area of 550-acre and nestled between two lakes, Powai and Vihar.
Participants of the ‘IIT Bombay Run’ can register on the website — www.iitbombayrun.com [http://www.iitbombayrun.com] or www.ecell.in/iitbrun [http://www.ecell.in/iitbrun] for any of the three categories as per their caliber — 4 km walk, 11 km Lake run or 21 km half marathon. The run is open to all and registration is compulsory for participants.
The objective of this campus run is to promote the ‘spirit of entrepreneurship’ in the country’s premier engineering institution. It will be a melting pot for the stakeholders of these esteemed institutions — students, faculty, alumni and industry leader. It would offer them an unofficial platform to connect with each other. This is also a great opportunity for the IIT alumni to re-unite with their batch mates, seniors and faculty members and relive those nostalgic moments. The proceeds of the marathon will be directed towards improving facilities and starting new student initiatives at the IIT Bombay campus.
Prof Soumyo Mukherji, Dean Student Affairs, IIT Bombay said, “We are delighted to host the runners and anchor this initiative. ‘IIT Bombay Run’ is a unique initiative that will bring together participation not just from our campus, but also from across the country. A super-enthusiastic e Cell team, comprised of students of IIT Bombay who conceptualize and organize E-Summit at IIT Bombay every year, is driving this initiative with the help from mentors familiar with the logistics and process of organizing such runs.”
The Entrepreneurship Cell is a non-profit organisation run by the students of IIT Bombay that aims at manifesting the latent entrepreneurial spirit of the young students. —PTI
