The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) that conduct the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for admissions to IITs, ISM, IIITs, NITS and GFTIs have launched a new web portal Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for allotting seats to JEE Advanced students in the above mentioned institutions. The JoSAA will be the sole authority for allotting seats and will start the process from June 29. The launch of the web portal has resulted in the seat allocation process that was to start from June 25-29 being postponed to June 29-July 3.
The seat allocation to IITs, NITs and other technical institutes was supposed to begin from 1 July, but it is now expected to be delayed. As per the new schedule, option filling for students will be available for five days from June 29 to July 3 during which a mock seat allocation round will be conducted on July 2. It will be followed by validation of option forms by students on July 4.
Thereafter, on July 5 the first round of seat allocation will take place and students allotted seats therein will have to confirm between July 6 and 10. This will be followed by the second and third round of allocation. The fourth round of allocation will be held for only NITs. The academic session for IITs is expected to start from July 21, five days later than the previous July 16 start.
