IIT JEE advanced 2017 date has finally been released. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has recently declared that the national level exam, held to shortlist candidates for different Bachelor’s degree programs in some of the top engineering colleges in the country, would be held on the 21st of May.
This time round approximately 20,000 more candidates would be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced after clearing the tough JEE Main exam. Hence, the total number of candidates giving the exam has been increased to 2.2 lakh . “This year, 20,000 more candidates will be eligible to write the JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main thus taking the total number of such candidates to 2, 20,000. This is in line with the projected number of seats available across all IITs in 2017”, shared the organizing chairman for JEE Advanced 2017.
Last year, IIT Guwahati conducted this national level examination and the number of candidates allowed to sit for JEE Advanced was set to 2 lakh.
Candidates who have a minimum of 75 percent marks or are in top 20 percentile in the 12th grade are eligible to appear for this entrance test. Students belonging to the SC, ST category have a relaxation of 10 percent. This year the doors will also open for candidates from foreign countries. These candidates can get a chance to study in the esteemed IITs and other reputed engineering colleges in the country after qualifying JEE Advanced.
IIT Madras is also planning to enhance the experience of giving the test as well as the overall procedure of conducting the examination. “Various interactive features are conceived to make the process of registration, fee payment, result announcement, choice filling etc less strenuous and hassle free. Features like short video tutorial and SMS services will be used extensively to help the candidates,” shared the JEE Advanced 2017 chairman.
