Joint Entrance Exam, the common engineering entrance exam conducted for admission in top engineering colleges in India, is held in two stages, JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main tests the candidates’ knowledge and capability at initial stage on national level. JEE Advanced, on the other hand, is internationally recognized as the most difficult entrance exams.
Candidates clearing JEE Main 2019 shall be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced besides being eligible to acquire seat in some reputed engineering colleges in the country including the National Institute of Technology, Centrally Funded Technical Institute, and Indian Institute of Information Technology. Those who qualify JEE Advanced are eligible for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology.
JEE Main and Advanced 2019 Study Plan:
Understand Exam Structure: You need to understand the exam structure once you have decided to appear for JEE Main 2019. In JEE Main there are two papers; the first one is for admission in B.tech/B.E. programs and the second one is for admission in B.Arch/B.planning programs. Both papers include objective type questions, for every correct answer students get 4 marks and for incorrect answer 1 mark is deducted. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. JEE Advanced is also objective type paper with same marking scheme.
- Understand the Syllabus: The exam includes questions from the PCM group i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics that carry equal weight age.
Physics includes the topics such as Electrostatics, Laws of Motion, Ray Optics, Wave Motion, Heat and Thermodynamics, Simple Harmonic Motion, Magnetic Effect of current Management, wave motion, etc.
Chemistry Includes the topics such as Chemical Thermodynamics, General Organic chemistry, Coordination Compounds, Redo Reactions, Phenol, Solutions, P-block elements etc.
Mathematics includes the topics such as Complex Numbers, Matrices and Integration, Definite Integration, Three- dimensional geometry, Vectors, Application of Derivations, Theory of Equations etc.
It’s important to have theory as well as practical knowledge of all the subjects.

- Set Time-Table and Stay Determined:Plan your study schedule for self study, coaching classes and online programs that best suit you. Don’t skip topics and have the basics clear for all the subjects. Maintain notes for all the subjects and clear your doubts in coaching classes. While studying practice questions simultaneously which will improve your speed and accuracy. Attempt questions after studying each chapter to test your knowledge. Try to solve maximum number of previous years question papers. Track your progress by keeping record of the syllabus you have covered. Wake up early for your studies as early morning is the best time to study. Do the revision as many times as possible for scoring high.
Lastly, make sure you avoid distractions such as TV and social media. You need to stay focused to score high in IIT JEE as it is one of the most challenging entrance exams.
