The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2019) has released the results for the first round of seat allotment on June last week. Students can check the allotment of seats online by simply visiting the official website, josaa.nic.in. This allotment is for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs & other GIFTs. Candidates should keep their JEE main roll number & password handy for the login details & to download the provisional allotment letter.
The allotment of seats has been done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in JEE (both Main & Advanced) along with their selection of college & course. Selected students will now be required to pay an acceptance fee of Rs. 35,000. And for verification of the payment, they need to report at their nearest reporting centre with all their original documents.
A candidate has the option to reject the allotted seat if they aren’t happy with the selection.
Post allotment, a candidate has the option to choose any one of the following:
Freezing: It means that a candidate has accepted the seat allotted and do not further wish to participate in the seat allotment procedure.
Floating: Here candidates do accept the seat offered but also indicate a wish to relocate to a better institute, if available.
Sliding: Candidates accept the allotted seat & indicate that if admissions are open in the same institute for then they will accept it.
For the final step, the candidates will have to report at institutes allotted in order to confirm their admission. Once finalized, they will be required to pay the remaining fees.
Procedure for JoSAA 2019 Registration and Filling Choice
Before registering for JoSAA 2019 all candidates were recommended to go through the eligibility criteria carefully. Once they were registered successfully, they had to fill their preference for colleges and courses. Candidates can follow the steps given below to register themselves for JoSAA 2018 and fill their choices.
Step 1-Registration: Candidates with their JEE Main 2019 roll number and password can log into the account. If they had registered for JEE Advanced 2019, then that password has to be used. Post registration, the personal details of the candidate will be retrieved from their JEE Main 2019 registration. After checking the information displayed on the screen, the candidates had to fill choices. Candidates can modify their mobile number also.
Step 2-Choice Filling: The available choices for admission were listed out according to the candidate’s qualification. Once they have selected the preferred choices, they can re-arrange or interchange their filled choices with ‘Arrange Filled Choices” option.
Step 3-Locking of Choices: Post completing the process of filling choices, the candidates had to lock their selected choices. Once the choices are locked, there will be no option to modify or edit the choices.
Step-4: Printout of selected choice: After locking the choices, a print out of the selected options had to be taken out for future use.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA 2019 was formed by the HRD Ministry to regulate & manage the joint seat allocation for the academic year 2019-20. This year approximately 36,000 seats are on offer in 97 institutes. These include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 other government-funded technical institutes (GFTI).
