Tips for JEE 2016-17 candidates to Stay Motivated

If you are planning to give JEE 2017 then you sure have ample time to study. You must make the most of this time so that you do not only cover your syllabus on time but also get enough time for revision and to test your knowledge. Here are some tips and tricks that shall help you utilize your time efficiently and keep you motivated all through:

  1. Prepare a Schedule
    Take a piece of paper and prepare a schedule. Make a rough draft to have an idea of how you should spread your syllabus over the year in order to complete it well in time. Once done, prepare your weekly schedule keeping all your important commitments in mind and stick to it diligently. It is suggested not to try to move very fast with the syllabus rather you should set goals that are achievable.
  2. Review Your Schedule
    Review your schedule at the end of each day to ensure that you have done all that you were required to. If you aren’t able to follow the plan even after giving your 100% then it is time to revise it.
  3. Prepare Notes
    Don’t just read and mug up your lessons. Keep preparing notes side by side. This will not only help you memorise your lessons more thoroughly but also improve your writing speed and give you a ready reckoner for revision.
  4. Revise
    Revise and re-revise all the topics side by side to retain them well. While revising, especially during the last few weeks, it is suggested to stick to your hand written notes.
  5. Give Mock Tests
    Mock tests such as the ones available on help test your knowledge. Give as many of these tests as you can to know how much you have grasped. You may even solve previous years’ papers or sample papers for this purpose.
  6. Lay Stress on the Important Part
    Even though you should learn the entire syllabus thoroughly and avoid leaving out any portion, it is suggested to lay more stress on the topics that carry more weightage.
  7. Sleep Well
    Do not, at any cost, compromise on your sleep. It is necessary to take a sleep of 6-8 hours every day in order to stay in good health and concentrate better.
  8. Eat Right
    Do not hog on that packet of chips or cookies as you sit to study. Replace it with nuts or fresh fruits. Have a balanced diet full of various micronutrients to stay energised throughout the day. Avoid oily, fatty and sugary food items as they tend to make you lethargic.
  9. Rejuvenate
    Squeeze in some time each day to relax and rejuvenate. Indulge in any activity of your choice to refresh yourself. It can be swimming, skating, cycling, talking to a friend, jogging or just anything that helps you relieve stress.
  10. Keep Yourself Motivated
    Read motivational quotes to stay determined. It is a good idea to write few of these on a piece of paper and stick it on your desk. Here are a few of these to boost your motivation:

  • It always seems impossible until it’s done.
  • Push yourself because no one else is going to do that for you.
  • Wake up with determination and go to bed with satisfaction.
  • Discipline is just choosing between what you want now and what you want most.
