
An initiative towards promoting reading literacy among the students of classes from 6-10, CBSE has launched a reading challenge. The challenge will be conducted in two languages, i.e, English and Hindi at two levels, classes 6-7 and 8-10. Only those students studying at CBSE-affiliated schools can participate in round 1 of the CBSE reading challenge. The last date for the schools to register the students for the challenge is November 25th.

As per CBSE, for round 2 the schools registered in stage 1 can nominate the best two candidates from each class for the English version of the CBSE reading challenge.

The cornerstone of the CBSE reading challenge
The CBSE reading challenge would help the participants encourage physiological activity by focusing on the ability to read and understand. It will help the students bring out the text’s meaning by assembling the information. The contest will also emphasize interpreting information and drawing conclusions and reflecting and assessing in order to judge the quality and reliability of the text.
The CBSE reading challenge will be conducted in two rounds within school and interschool.
There is no charge for participating in the challenge at any two stages.

After the completion of the registration process on November 25th, the registered schools will be provided a reading challenge paper with reading tasks along with scoring criteria on November 28th. The registered schools are required to select 2 students from each class on the basis of their performance and conduct the CBSE reading challenge between November 28 and 30. The registered schools will then have to register the selected students for round 2 on the website of CBSE between December 1 and 16.

For round 2 the board will conduct a computer-based reading challenge for the registered candidates between December 19 and 30.
