Students often wonder whether the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is tougher than the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) or is it the later that requires more efforts to crack. Well, before we explain as to which one is tougher and why let us have a brief look at what these exams are all about.
What is the (IIT JEE)Joint Entrance Exam?
JEE is held each year in the month of April to select students for engineering and architecture courses in top engineering colleges across the country. JEE is held in two parts. JEE Main and advanced. JEE Main is held to select students for the Indian Institutes of Information Technology, National Institutes of Technology and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. Clearing JEE also makes the candidates eligible to appear for the next level examination – JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is held to shortlist students for the esteemed Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology and Indian Institute of Science.
The candidates are tested on their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in both the exams. However, the level of difficulty of JEE Advanced is much higher than JEE Main.
What is the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna?
KVPY is conducted each year to identify talented students and offer them a scholarship. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) conducts this examination each year. It assesses the candidates’ analytical and problem-solving skills rather than concentrating on their factual knowledge. It tests the knowledge of the candidates in four subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Here Free Download the KVPY Previous year Solved Question paper in Pdf Formate.
Difference between KVPY and IIT JEE examinations – Which one is Tougher?
Both KVPY and JEE test the candidates’ knowledge to the core to select the most deserving ones. You require preparing for four subjects for KVPY and only three for JEE.
The basic difference between the two examinations is that they test the candidates’ knowledge on different levels. As stated above, KVPY tests the candidates’ knowledge about their fundamentals. The questions put across in this paper are rather simple. However, one can only answer them correctly if he has a strong base. On the other hand, the questions put across in JEE are more twisted and tweaked. So even if a candidate has sound knowledge of the basics, he may still get perplexed during this exam. JEE thus requires more practice. In addition to studying thoroughly, it is also important to test your knowledge side by side while preparing for IIT JEE Main & advanced else you would only be half prepared.
JEE Main is often considered to be easier compared to KVPY but the level of difficulty of JEE Advanced is certainly higher than KVPY. However, some find both JEE Main and Advanced difficult in comparison to KVPY. Nonetheless, it is seen that many candidates who fail to qualify in KVPY Crack JEE Main with good rank. This is because KVPY is held when the candidates are still in their 11th or 12th standard and are not fully prepared for this examination. JEE, on the other hand, is given after the completion of Class 12th. Most students appearing for JEE undergo rigorous coaching for the preparation of the same and are thus better prepared.
All in all, though both the exams are tough in their own right, proper guidance and preparation can help you knock them. What do you say? Do share your views on the same!
Hope the above information helps you in your career. All the best!
